About Me

I am a distinguished pan-African feminist lawyer and leader with experience in human rights and development work and corporate work. My expertise lies in young women's feminist movement building, strategy, governance, compliance and resource mobilization for non-profits and social enterprises. With my experience working in the private sector locally and international non-profit organizations, I have gained proficiency in legal compliance, non-profit corporate governance and sustainable development practice. I have been an advocate for young women's leadership initiatives and youth inclusion projects in Africa and Zimbabwe. As a strategic think tank, my experience and previous engagement in the women’s movement expands from Southern Africa to Eastern Africa. I have led and participated in key youth public inclusion advocacy initiatives and feminist research methodology development for enhanced youth responsive programming.

My aspiration is to lead the reclamation of the identities of African womxn. I have a passion for empowering young African people and creating sustainable African business and organizational initiatives. I also enjoy imparting feminist knowledge to my eager toddler and future movement influencer Nsang.

Services

Work Experience

I am lawyer by training who is fully admitted to practice by the High Court of Zimbabwe. After graduating from law school, I started my career as a Policy and Advocacy Assistant at the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe.I transitioned to the Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association a strategic litigation organization, where I was worked as a Help Desk Legal Assistant.This role later materialized into consultancy for the then Gazetted Marriages Bill wherein I was tasked to lobby and advance online engagement and increase participation of women in the preliminary parliamentary public hearings. I switched from the non-profit sector to the private sector as Legal Associate at T. Pfigu Attorneys, a boutique corporate law firm. I did case management and represented clients in the inferior courts and the High Court of Zimbabwe.

After a 2-year professional sabbatical, I returned to the workforce as the Head of Grant Management and Corporate Governance at INZI Foundation. I was instrumental in setting up the advisory board, secondary registration in the US and attainment of 501 (c) 3 status. At the close of my contract, I started working for CW Advisory as the Head of Legal Compliance. This ed-tech and educational advisory services company is leading efforts on access to international student financing for young Zimbabweans with a focus on the US and Canada.

I have board experience with international, regional and local boards. These are some of the organizations that I have worked with in the past and some that I currently work with as an advisory board member.

Professional Sabbatical

Between late 2019 and early 2021 I took a professional sabbatical and focused on improving my German language skills while volunteering in an end-of-life palliative hospice centre in Germany. I did federal 12-month volunteering programme in collaboration with Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste (ijgd). I supported the interdisciplinary palliative care team for terminally ill patients through psychosocial and end of life support. During my voluntary year also successfully advocated for, and was a part of the organizing team for the first 1-day long Racism Workshop which was aimed at discussing and tackling the African people's encounter with racism in Germany and as volunteers in their assigned workstations, Critical Whiteness and Discrimination and Anti-Racism.

I am now a proficient German language speaker who is confident in using the language in a professional setting.
